Timing Belts

Timing belt and wet belt replacement

Replacing a timing belt on time costs far less than the engine damage a snapped one can cause. We’ll tell you when yours is due.

Why it matters

The timing belt keeps your engine’s valves and pistons in step. On many engines, if it snaps they collide, which can mean a new engine. Manufacturers set a replacement interval in miles or years, whichever comes first, and it’s one of the most important jobs on the service schedule.

Not sure when yours was last done? Call or WhatsApp us on 0115 939 9244 with your registration and we’ll check the interval for your car.

Timing belts

Belt replaced at your manufacturer’s interval, along with the tensioner and pulleys. We’ll advise if the water pump should be changed at the same time.

Wet belts

Some engines run the timing belt in oil. These wet belts can break down and block the oil supply, so they need checking and replacing on time.

Common wet-belt engines

Wet belts are used on several popular small petrol engines, including some Ford EcoBoost and Peugeot, Citroën and Vauxhall PureTech engines.

Warning signs

On wet-belt engines, an oil pressure warning or a heavy brake pedal can mean bits of belt are blocking the oil system. Get it checked straight away.

Check your interval

Send us your registration and we’ll tell you the manufacturer’s interval and whether yours is due.

12-month warranty

Parts and labour are covered for 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first.
